Bio-Gas Plant
A Bio Gas Plant converts all organic waste into clean re-usable odor free water, compost and Bio Gas which can be converted into electricity.
How is it made?
Biogas is produced by the breakdown of organic waste by bacteria without oxygen (anaerobic digestion or fermentation).
What types of organic waste could be turned in biogas?
-Leftover food from houses, shops, restaurants and factories, Canteens, dung
-Sewage
-Leftover straw and crops from farming
-Leftover meat and blood from abattoirs
-Cow, sheep and chicken manure
Biogas is made by fermenting organic waste in a biogas digester :
Salient Features :
•Environmentally friendly disposal of waste, which is the need of the hour.
•Generation of fairly good amount of fuel biogas, which will definitely support the dwindling energy resources. The gas can be used for as fuel in the kitchen.
•Generation of high quality, weed free manure, which is an excellent soil conditioner. This is very important for replenishing organic carbon in the undernourished soil after years of agriculture.
•Water can be used for planting and gardening.
•Need only one time investment.
•Material treated can be food (veg. & Non veg.), vegetables, fruits, Leaves & flowers, Tissue papers , vegetable oil (edible & non edible), STP sludge, Algae & Water Hyacinth
•Power Generation from Organic Waste Generated in Suburban Area using Spatial Techniques -Refuse into Resource through Biogas.
•50% urban solid waste is organic and can be easily treated by anaerobic digestion.
•Organic waste is treated in closed vessels where, in the absence of oxygen micro organisms break down the organic matter into a stable residue, and generate a methane-rich biogas in the process.
•Reduced Greenhouse Gas Emissions - Stopping release of 180 Cu Mtr of Methane in to the atmosphere per day per plant which is 22 times more dangerous than CO2 for Global Warming.
•Bio Gas can be utilised as cooking gas in kitchen, boiler, power generation & Bio CNG or even lighting purpose.
Bio gas plants are useful for:
•Municipal Corporations
•Hospitals, Hotels
•Housing Societies
•Govt. Establishments
•Abattoirs, Nagar Palika
• Gram panchayat, Farmers
•Vegetable Mandies, Warehouse etc.
-
Gas can be used directly for cooking or for power generation.
-
Generated compost is very useful for agriculture, farming and landscaping.
-
Outlet Water can be used for irrigation and other purposes other than human consumption.
